McLaren Vale, South Australia, AUSTRALIA

Bottle
$299.88 Dozen
Closure: Cork

Hardys who also produce Chateau Reynella Vintage Port, are amongst Australia’s finest exponents of the style. Stanton and Killeen, Bullers, Seppelt and Baileys are producers whose Vintage Ports are also worth seeking out. Totally opaque black crimson colour, with paint like cling to the glass. The nose is outstanding and has that very rare and highly desirable marzipan aroma that can only be found in the finest Vintage Ports. Very fine brandy spirit followed by aroma of blackberry and spice creating a sniffing sensation. The palate is mouthfilling with outstanding depth and power, yet still very youthful. Superb, old pot still brandy spirit is intergrated with flavours of almonds, liquorice allsorts and blackberries enhanced by fine dry tannins. Time is all this wine needs to express its full potential and integrate the brandy with the excellent concentrated fruit. Warm spicy aftertaste. Cellar 15-20 years and be sure to leave a box aside for your wake – and pray that it’s a long time off.
