This is Classic Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon - and every bit as voluptuous as Shiraz, but without the current international sex appeal. A few years ago it was Shiraz that was the underdog and planting Cabernet was all the rage. Today the world can't get enough of Australian Shiraz - tomorrow it will be Cabernets turn again. The demand factor is now reflected in price, with the Cabernet being less expensive than Shiraz. The majority of the vines that make this Cabernet Sauvignon exceed 40 years of age. Matured in French and American Oak for 18 months. Opaque crimson colour with deep mauve edges. Superb uplifting aroma of ripe blackcurrants, plums, liquorice and vanilla spice. The palate is mouthfilling - voluptuously ripe fruit flavours fill every corner of the mouth, and linger long into the after flavours. Ripe plums, liquorice, blackcurrants, confectionary, vanilla and spice flavours abound. Fine soft tannins - perfect balance and silky texture with very long liquorice plum confectionary aftertaste. Cellar 5 -8 years.
