If one was asked to select a wine to cellar, so that it would reach a state of perfection at ones wake, then the obvious wine to choose is one that will live for 'almost ever.' Finding wines that have the potential to outlive the purchaser are rare and the last thing one wants to do is put a mozz on one self and find that the wine matures in 2-3 years and not 20-30. The Reynella Vintage Port is a safe bet to outlive most of us, and even if you happen to be particularly genetically lucky, it will still be drinking well. Totally opaque black crimson purple colour which clings firmly to the glass. Superb aromas of spice, liquorice allsorts, crushed blackberries with marzipan overtones. Superb palate structure, filled with the flavours of sweet raisins and blackberries which have been infused with fine brandy spirit. Perfect balance, fine grained tannins, a touch assertive but well positioned for the long haul. Clean finish with warm spice, liquorice allsorts aftertaste. Cellar 15-20 years plus.
