1996 Charles Cimicky Classic Merlot

A big wine, well made, generous, filled with the voluptuous flavours of Barossa and in many ways reminiscent of the Elderton style but in spite of all its positive virtues, it's very hard to define the Merlot component of this wine.Opaque crimson colour. Lifted nose of spice, ripe plum and vanilla with a hint of earth in the background. On the palate flavours of liquorice, plum and vanillan oak are dominant with the liquorice and oak lingering. Generous full bodied mouthfilling fruit flavours with a warm finish, followed by a long liquorice, vanilla and toasted oak aftertaste. Cellar 5-8 years.
