This wine comes from old vines planted over 100 years ago, and so there's a fair bit of history in each bottle. However, unlike some of the old vines reds from Kay's or St.Halletts', this is not a big wine - and is being released onto the market a little too early, but then that's reflected in the lower than expected price. This wine needs to be cellared for at least another couple of years prior to gaining a complete picture of its potential. At the moment it's a bit disjointed, the acid a little high and the fruit closed. Medium weight, crimson mauve purple colour. Spicy inky pepper nose with a dusty overtone. On the palate berry inky flavours persist, fine tannins and good balance. Cellar 3 - 5 years.
