1995 Peter Lehmann Mentor Dry Red

Barossa Valley, South Australia, AUSTRALIA
$34. 99
Bottle
$419.88 Dozen
Closure: Cork

The Mentor, represents the best, full bodied Cabernet of a particular Vintage. The 1995 Mentor is made from a blend of 70% Cabernet, 20% Malbec and 10% Merlot. The Cabernet and Malbec components were sourced from the Stonewell vineyard, whilst the Merlot came from the Ebenezer district of Barossa Valley. The wine spent two years in new French and American oak hogsheads.

Opaque brick red colour, showing signs of bottle age, but still with years of life in front of it. Excellent, perfumed nose. Aroma of ripe figs, prunes, chocolate, vanilla, blackcurrants, cedar and spice. The palate displays complexity due to bottle age, with distinct blackcurrant, cedar and leather spice flavours, supported by a very distinctive firm dry, yet balanced tannin structure, which lingers long into the aftertaste. Only a tiny parcel of this wine is available, with stocks mainly being exported. Cellar a further 3-4 years.
