1995 Henschke Lenswood Abbotts Prayer Dry Red

The Henschke Lenswood vineyard is just 50 km from the historic Mount Edelstone and Hill of Grace vineyards. The site was chosen because of the higher rainfall and humidity at the right time of year, cooler temperatures to retain natural acidity and enough sunshine to fully ripen the fruit. 1995 was a drought year with a dry spring and summer and long slow late ripening period saved by a late Indian Summer. The fruit not being picked until early May!The Henschke Abbotts Prayer is a blend of 42% Merlot, 52% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Cabernet Franc. Crimson ruby colour. The nose displays aromas of mulberry, violets, cedar, cigarbox and vanilla with some spicy, sappy, green plum notes. The palate is rich and soft with a long aftertaste. Fine grained tannin structure - cellar 5 years.
