The shiraz from Margaret River has great finesse and the 1995 Evans & Tate reflects the vintage conditions. A drought caused reduced yields which in turn resulted in a much more concentrated wine. Whilst the weather conditions were difficult, the vintage can only be described as outstanding across the board - Cullens, Moss Wood, Vasse Felix, Amberley etc all produced superb wines. The wine was aged in new oak for two years. Opaque crimson colour with mauve edges. The nose is superb and quite pronounced. Aromas of plum, blackberry and blackpepper over a vanillin oak background. The palate displays excellent concentration of flavour, dominated by blackpepper and blackberries with confectionery liquorice and plum flavours in the background. Fine, dry tannins, excellent balance and long aftertaste. Cellar 5-10 years. This is the pick of the 1995 Evans & Tate releases. Supplies of this wine are very limited.
