1995 was a difficult year in Coonawarra and yet some very good wines have been produced by individual producers, and whilst it is generally conceded that Cabernet fared better than Shiraz, it's the Bowen Shiraz that outperforms the Cabernet. Opaque crimson purple colour. The nose displays aromas of ripe plums, and blackberries with vanillin oak in the background. On the palate the flavours are generous, and there is considerable weight - not surprising with an alcohol content of 14%. Blackberries, spicy blackpepper and vanilla flavours combine with hints of plum and confectionary. Fine tannin structure, good weight and long plummy, spice and blackpepper aftertaste. Cellar 5 - 8 years.
