This wine was named after one of Australia's longest serving Liberal Prime Ministers - Robert Gordon Menzies. The fruit is sourced from a 20 Ha site in the centre of Coonawarra. This wine is as big in structure as "Pig Iron Bob" was, and reflects the positive yet aggressive tannin structure to be found in this young red.Opaque crimson colour. Superb nose of confectionery, vanilla, blackcurrant and plum with an earthy overtone. Ripe blackcurrants, chocolates and liquorice flavours dominate the palate with a hint of confectionery in the background. The tannins are very firm, fine and very dry, lingering well past the chocolate truffle aftertaste. This is a big Menzies which needs at least a decade to come together.
