Crop Yield: 4.0 tonnes per acre.A ripe warm vintage. Excellent colour - opaque crimson. On the nose there are aromas of confectionary, spice, blackcurrant and mulberry. The palate is generous and full bodied with excellent concentration of flavour, dominated by blackcurrant and spice with cedar oak remaining in the background. Excellent length and balance, followed by very fine grained tannins and long cedar, blackcurrant and spice aftertaste.

Retasted: August 2001
Bright, crimson colour. Medium body. Very appealing nose of marzipan – almost perfumed, followed by a blackcurrant end note. There is just the faintest hint of leafiness on the palate, but hardly a distracter, overshadowed by flavours of blackcurrant, spice and liquorice. Excellent length and persistence. Perfect balance. Fine grained tannins with very long aftertaste. Cellar 2-3 years.

RATING: 93/100
