1994 Morris Rutherglen Durif

Morris Durif wines have a capacity to live for at least a couple of decades, however, their solidity remains intact. Bury some in your cellar and come back in 10 or 20 years time - it's a great education for your palate! Black red colour, with deep mauve edges. The nose displays very ripe fruit aromas. Tarry, dark chocolate and coffee aromas dominate over a dry porty background. The palate has great weight - it's a solid blob of flavour which plonks itself down on the tongue - and weighs in like an over weight boxer. The palate is filled with chocolate/coffee flavour, with surprisingly soft tannin structure and long porty coffee aftertaste. If you've never tasted Durif then this is an excellent example of the style.
