1994 Clarendon Hills Astralis Syrah (Shiraz)

This is the first year that Astralis appeared on the marketplace under its name and was launched at a retail price of $100 per bottle. At the time the wine created a sensation, as it was aligned in price alongside Grange. The Ukranian ‘upstart’ got the attention he wanted and the rest is history.

An outstanding example. Opaque black crimson colour with deep crimson hue. Superb nose of marzipan, confectionary, spice and cedar. The palate delivers the power and mouthfeel that have become the hallmark of all Astralis wines. Layers of liquorice, mocca, blackpepper and spice. Exceptional length. Velvet smooth tannins, followed by a very long aftertaste of cedar, spice and dark chocolate.
