Notes sourced from Henschke.

Grape Variety: 100% Riesling grapes from Eden Valley and Keyneton.

Background: Riesling is the classic grape variety of Germany and one of the earliest varieties brought to South Australia. Cyril Henschke developed the Henschke reputation for Riesling wines as early as the 1950’s from the vineyard areas of Eden Valley, Keyneton and Springton. These dry, food orientated wines were clean and crisp and would age to delicious marmalade on toast flavours, due to the cooler climate of the Eden Valley region. This area provides ideal ripening conditions for the Riesling grape.

Vintage Description: The Riesling was harvested at 13° Baume late in May after a very cool summer. The coldest February day was recorded since May 1954.Fortunately unseasonably warm weather after Easter encouraged rapid ripening of the fruit to produce one of Henschke’s finest Rieslings.

Tasting Notes: Golden green. Sweet, intense citrusy lime. Slight marmalade on toast characters. Typical Eden Valley development. Full, rich, and intense. Great palate with lots of flavour and good length. Crisp.

Cellaring Potential: Excellent vintage, drinking now.
Alcohol: 13.1%
