This particular blend commemorates the services of EddyWaechter, a Barossa grower for Yalumba for the past 50 years. The Shiraz component of the wine was planted in 1913 and Eddy'sback label comments are "they are over 80 years old, thetermites have eaten the vines inside out but the old buggersbear like buggery".This is an outstanding wine and Eddy should be bloody pleased.Deep crimson red colour. Excellent ripe plum spice, blackberryand blackcurrant aromas over vanillin oak, with overtones ofconfectionary. The palate structure is magnificent - solid ripeplum and blackberry and blackpepper flavours abound - excellentdepth and concentration of flavour, this is a wine that is madefor men like Eddy - excellent balance and fine firm tanninstructure with hints of chocolate on the aftertaste. A balltearer, Eddy, pity about the price hike though!
