This wine has spent 20 months in new American oak and is made entirely from the original 2.8 hectare vineyard planted in 1968 at Padthaway. A highly successful wine on the show circuit with 1 trophy and 4 gold medals to it's credit and it's little wonder as one takes the first sniff, the aromas leap out of the glass - very obvious but equally delightful. Ripe plums, spice and vanilla over a blackberry background. The palate displays excellent depth with flavours of ripe plum, stewed fruits, vanillin oak and an inky peppery overtone with a touch of aniseed. Fine tannin structure - excellent balance and very long vanilla spice plum aftertaste. A top example of Padthaway Shiraz. Cellar 5-8 years.
