Crop Yield: 3.5 tonnes per acre.Viticulturally, an easy year with a mild summer and only occasional rain. This is the first year that a percentage of Cabernet Franc has been added to the wine, a minuscule 1%, however the impact of it on aroma and flavour have been very evident. From 1991 onwards 4% Cabernet Franc has been the norm and from 1996 onwards 3% Petit Verdot has been added to the blend. One of the deepest wines in the line up, with almost opaque crimson colour. Sophisticated nose, almost Bordeaux like, delicately perfumed with aromas of leather, violets and blackcurrant. The palate is impressive and shows plenty of flavour concentration - blackcurrant, cedar oak and truffle flavours are supported by fine grained soft tannins. Excellent balance with lingering earthy, leather, cedar and blackcurrant aftertaste. A wine with another 8-10 years bottle life left.
