The Cabernet Sauvignons from Lindemans' St. George Vineyard are generallyrecognised as some of the best red wines from the famous Coonawarra region. Withan impressive show record and excellent reputation for longevity, these benchmarkwines are eagerly awaited and sought-after by devotees.
Notes sourced from Southcorp Wines.
The 1990 St. George demonstrates just how great a Coonawarra Cabernet from anoutstanding vintage can be. It is full bodied in the traditional style and will develop intoa classic Coonawarra Cabernet with 7 to 10 years careful cellaring.
The wine was matured in new French Nevers oak hogsheads for a period of 20 months.Currently, the wine is deep crimson red in colour with vibrant purple hues, indicativeof its youthfulness. The complex bouquet reveals ripe blackcurrant, cassis andplum-like Cabernet fruit, interwoven with integrated cigar-box-like oak influence. Thewine is exceptionally harmonious and balanced with a wealth of rich Cabernet flavoursand great length. The palate suggests ripe berry, plum and blackcurrant-like fruitcharacters and 'sweet' oak complexity, supported by a persistent and astringent dryfinish.
In the tradition of St. George Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine features excellent regionaland varietal character and promises great enjoyment for many years to come - atestimony to the quality of this famous vineyard and Lindemans' modern winemakingtechniques.13.2% alcohol volume.
