The North British distillery supplies famous blends such as J&B, Cutty Sark, The Famous Grouse and Johnnie Walker but never bottle whisky under their own label. So whilst almost any whisky lover would have tried a whisky to which North British has contributed, very few would have had the opportunity to taste it on its own. Gordon & Macphail exceed the norm with this near three decades-old bottling. The deep mahogany colour is unexpected - single grains are usually matured in x Bourbon barrels. This comes from a first fill Sherry puncheon and is limited to just 181 bottles. One only to sell.

Notes from the bottler... AROMA: Rich and bold; fruitcake laden with sultanas, raisins, and dates soaked in golden syrup. Hot dark chocolate aromas infuse with hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and dried ginger. TASTE: Undertones of marzipan and orange peel complement ripe cherry flavours. Notes of stewed blackcurrant and blackberry develop; a delicate menthol edge remains . FINISH: a delightful dram with a subtle and lingering charred oak finish. 61% Alc./Vol.
