This wine is exhibiting better overall balance than it did early in its life when its rough exterior led to doubts concerning its overall depth of fruit and balance. Although there remains a firm edge to the wine's tannin, it is nearly mature, offering a big, spicy, dusty, curranty, lead pencil-scented nose, and rich, medium to full-bodied flavors. The astringent tannins are off-set by the lusty alcohol in the finish. It should reach its peak in 1-2 more years and last through most of the first decade of the next century. Drink 1994-2010.
