John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon, named after the Scottish pioneer who started the Estate in 1891, is the definitive Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon - richer and more concentrated than any other wine from the region. This wine was first produced from the 1982 vintage and is only produced from the top 1% of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from Coonawarra and then only in years when grapes of extraordinarily high quality are available.Wynns Coonawarra Estate John Riddoch is an immensely complex Cabernet that requires long term cellaring - 10 to 20 years to fully appreciate the complexity of the wine. Many consider this wine to be the leading contender for Australia's finest Cabernet Sauvignon. Indeed, three vintages of John Riddoch have won the "Best Cabernet Sauvignon" award at London's International Wine and Spirit Competition. And it is entirely appropriate that one of Australia's, and the world's, top Cabernet Sauvignon wines should carry the name of the man who pioneered the Coonawarra region.
