1980 Cognac de Collection Jean Grosperrin Grande Champagne Cognac (700ml)

Jean Grosperrin initially worked as a Cognac broker, evaluating eaux-de-vie and introducing buyers. He now has a collection of atypical and rare Cognacs including this 29 year old, high ABV vintage bottling from Grande Champagne.

Tasting note: Deep gold, bright brassy colour. Powerful aromatics are fruit forward with stewed apricot up front over clove and vanilla. The palate opens with an initial sweet, juicy burst, but it’s too quickly superseded by the intense spices and drying oak which throws this Cognac a little out of balance. Delicate aftertaste of spicy dried fruits. 50.2% Alc./Vol.
