The wines of Moulin Touchais begin reaching their peak after twenty years, and many of the great vintages will take much longer. Vintages such as the 1953, 1959, 1964, 1969 are still maturing. The 1945, 1947 and 1949 have become classics. Moulin Touchais are the only winemakers in the world who give a century long guarantee on the longevity of their wines (subject to being kept under optimal cellar conditions). Bottles may show some sediment or deposit. One should understand this is due to the traditional filtration process, the main aim being to protect the colour, the bouquet and the depth of flavour of the wine.

As we move into the older vintages the colours become deeper and the flavour profiles show more development and complexity with a subtle nuttiness beginning to emerge on the drier finishes.
Deep brassy gold colour. Rising from the glass is a complex aromatic profile of dried fruits, salted nuts, dried honey, hints of raisins, light prune and spice. Whilst the nose is showing signs of tertiary development, the palate remains amazingly fresh, flooded with dried apricot, honeyed quince and subtle marmalade over a back drop of dried nuts, light cinnamon, raisins and spice. Finishes dry, complex and exceptionally long. A wine to sip and contemplate.
Drink it over the next 10 years.
Alc. 12.5%

Other Reviews....
Fully mature and earthy in flavor, with ripe pear and apple notes lingering on the finish. Round and smooth in texture, full-bodied and well balanced with acidity. Drink now.
