1974 Baileys Bundarra Vineyards Bin XP Shiraz

A remarkable wine, and still very much alive. We just sold this wine in the mid 1970’s for $2.49 and were very surprised when one of our wine loving friends brought a bottle out for dinner. Very deep brown colour, showing its age. The wine is wonderful, filled with the aroma of cedar, spice, old leather and earth. Still very vibrant. Mouthfilling palate, very solid and still in perfect balance. In the 1970’s this wine was very tannic, but the enormous fruit that was behind the tannins has enabled this wine to develop over the 27 years. Flavours of earth, spice, leather and truffle, with a pronounced earthy back palate. Excellent length and concentration. Velvet smooth tannins, exceptionally long aftertaste.
