- ABV 48.5%
Jean Grosperrin initially worked as a Cognac broker, evaluating eaux-de-vie and introducing buyers. He now has a collection of atypical and rare Cognacs including this impressive, high ABV vintage bottling from Petite Champagne.
Tasting note: Deep gold, brass colour with a subtle green tinge. The initial pour captivates with lifted, apricot marmalade-like aromas augmented by notes of vanilla, creme caramel and soft spice. Returning to the glass several minutes later one discovers the fruit profile develops further with suggestions of semi-ripe mango, melon and new leather. Powerful yet poised, medium dry, with a gently warming spirit, the palate offers concentrated fruit cake flavours (dried apricot and fig) accompanied by a spicy power wave that persists well into the aftertaste; overall terrific balance at this high strength. Finishes fine, dry and clean with a light toasty, honey and dried apricot finale. 50.2% Alc./Vol.
