Established in 1992, Jean Grosperrin and his son continue to market the finest old cognacs, many sourced from the cellars of small growers. These otherwise neglected producers were left out in the tide of multinational take overs and sometimes forced to accept demands that were inversely proportionate to the payment they received. Others whose properties were too small were refused entry into the region's new economic order. Nevertheless, these farmers often kept aside a few barrels from older harvests, sometimes containing brandies several decades old. Many of these rare 'relics of time' now make up the Grosperrin Collection.

Of his 1970 Grande Champagne bottling, Grosperrin comments, "We decided to buy this cognac since it had clearly been stored in a particularly dry cellar, having lost nearly half its volume yet only two degrees of alcohol during its stay in barrels. The result of such extreme storage conditions is an exceptional concentration of aromas, making this vintage one of the most outstanding cognacs in the Collection." He sums up the 1970 as "... smooth, very rounded and consistent... very strong vanilla notes make it ideal with Cuban cigars... " Very limited stocks now in Australia. 45.2% Alc./Vol.
