1966 Gordon & Macphail Connoisseurs Choice Aberfeldy 16 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)

These 'antique' brown label Connoisseurs Choice bottlings are seldom found. This one surfaced from a private collection and looks to be in excellent condition for its age. Distilled way back in '66 and brought into Australia by Wollongong Whisky Imports. The colour suggests some active sherry casks were at play. One only to sell.

Other reviews... Nose: very refined, very elegant. Dried flowers, camomile, dried tropical fruits (guava, mango, coconut, dates). A great nose, extremely subtle. Mouth: much more powerful than expected. Herbal liquor, caramel, dried cherries. Quite a lot of punch for such an old and venerable G&M! Hints of cookies. Medium, but great buttery finish. Not an absolute winner, but a very, very good Aby. 85 points - whiskyfun.com
