Tasting Notes:size> First of the three "hidden" Granges. Max Schubert made the wine despite being ordered by Penfolds management to cease production. It was matured in the previous year's Grange barrels as new oak was not available. Three hogsheads (just over 1000 bottles) were made. Won a gold and three silver Australian wine show medals in 1962 and 1963.

Developed wine, good balance. (Rewards of Patience, 1st ed., 1985)

Fleshy and generous... Impressed beyond expectations... A front rank Grange. (Ultimate Grange Experience, Nov. 1994)

"Variable and well past peak. The first ‘hidden’ or ‘secret’ Grange. Very rare curio and collector value." (Southcorp Wines, The Rewards of Patience, Fourth Edition, March 2000)
