Vintage dated cognacs were quite common in the last century, though the practice was discontinued in 1962. The 'Antiquairies' label offer a very limited selection of rare vintage Cognacs. This bottling is from the region's second most prestigious area, Petite Champagne, with around 16,000 hectares presently under vine. The soil here is chalky, but it is a more compact and friable type known as Santonian chalk. This slight difference in soils means its Cognacs are close in style to Grande Champagne, but without the finesse of the latter.
