The Shinobu Mizunara Oak Finish Blended Japanese Whisky (700ml)

Shinobu's Master Blender, Mr. Usami, matures sourced whiskies in both ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks This 50% malt and 50% grain blend probably started life in the latter before being finished in Japanese Mizunara oak. Pretty bright gold in colour, the nose opens with a prickle of alcohol and sappy, grassy, mildly acidic notes, developing attractive biscuit, grain and muesli bar-like aromas. Air contact emphasises ripe plum, ginger and wasabi. Surprisingly intense, but relatively well balanced, it's an easy-drinking style with low-key fruitiness, a somewhat spicy finish and hints of sweet oak through the aftertaste. 43% Alc./Vol.
