Springbank Fino Sherry Cask Matured 10 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

We're fast approaching the end of Springbank’s five part Sherry Series, with just the 10 Year Old Manzanilla left to be released. This, the fourth instalment was matured for ten years in total, four years in bourbon casks followed by six years in Fino (dry) sherry casks. Distilled in 2015, 11,400 bottles were released at 55% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Other reviews... Fino can be very specific, and its influence is relatively mild compared to say, Oloroso or Pedro Ximénez. That's a good thing here. It might have added to the saline character, but left plenty of room for Springbank's DNA to shine. - wordsofwhisky.com

Notes from the producers... Nose: Dark chocolate, cocoa, sherry, leather, a bit of smoke, minerality, honey and overripe red fruits. Taste: Lightly peaty, nectar, crème brûlée, dried mango, sweet cream, chocolate-covered cherries, slightly salty, with a little red pepper. Finish:  Long-lasting nectar, sweet orange, creamy popcorn, roasted malt, minerals and a bit of spiciness.
