Hedges & Butler is a London merchant house founded in 1667, with whisky production coming later as part of its wider spirits business. By the early 20th century, it was producing its own blended Scotch whiskies, and its name carried a strong association with royal warrants and long-established trade. They produced a traditional malt-led Scotch expression that reflected the old-style blending practices of the era. Made entirely from malt whiskies rather than grain whisky, it carried the vatted malt character that was common before the term blended malt became more widely used.
