Claxton's Exploration Series Campbeltown 5 Year Old Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

The second tea-spooned malt from Claxton's collection comes from a mystery Campbeltown distiller. To our knowledge, Kilkerran are yet to sell to independents so it's either Springbank or Glen Scotia. Matured in a PX sherry hogshead, a sedate coastal whiff competes with a winey overlay of chocolate, prunes, dried figs and apricots. Young yet seductive, this starts out fresh and lively and ends with a decadent injection of sherried sweetness; hints of ginger biscuit, raisin cake and dark chocolate carry the finish. Very satisfying after dinner malt. 50% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
