2014 Cooper's Choice Campbeltown 10 Year Old Australian Exclusive Cask Strength Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

A hefty bouquet precedes a heftier delivery. A hard one to nail down but there’s no pronounced peat so if it’s from Springbank it’s a Hazelburn distillate or Glengyle? A slight grittiness to the mouthfeel reminds us of Glen Scotia, as does the slightly prickly attack. The sprite finish is flattened by the sweetness of the wine before a rush of coastal freshness relieves the sugars. Initially the wine input smothers, but it gets better as you go, which brings us back to Springbank… Whatever the mix, it's very characterful.
