A moderately toasty nose displays plenty of both natural and wood spice together with very ripe red cherry and cassis aromas that merge into dense, seductively textured and opulent middle weight flavors that possess a good amount of tannin-buffering sap and fine length. The wood is very strong, indeed to the point where the finish is mildly bitter. My rating offers the benefit of the doubt as historically this wine has been quite good.
