2008 Domaine de la Vougeraie Charmes-Chambertin Les Mazoyeres Grand Cru

Very deep, dark crimson red colour, with dark, crimson red mauve hue showing excellent depth. The nose shows great intensity and perfume, with aromas of black cherries, violets and dark, ripe plum leaping out of the glass, followed by some cedar, spice and gamey, herb like characters. Light to medium weight, the palate possesses good richness but does not quite attain the level of power and depth that the nose would indicate. Flavours of black cherry, dark plum, cedar, dried meat and spice. Soft, supple texture, with velvet smooth tannin structure. Aftertaste of black cherry, dark plum and spicy cedar.
