Decadent Teaninich from a very active 1st fill ex-Oloroso butt.

Notes from Adelphi... A fantastic colour of cola. We also noted an excellent bead, this is a very decadent dram. On the nose we found molasses, chocolate fudge cake, old dunnage warehouse and meat jus; also slightly earthy. The palate gave us a rich mouthfeel with chocolate ganache, steak pie, Medjool dates and chocolate almonds. An extremely long and satisfying finish. 55.9% Alc./Vol. 615 bottles from cask 301264

Situated just a mile from the Cromarty Firth, for a good portion of the 20th century Teaninich was the only distillery north of Inverness with electricity and telephones. Since taking ownership, Diageo have continued to modernise, and in 2013 announced a major upgrade, as well as the construction of a new 'super distillery' adjacent to the original, securing Teaninich's future as a quiet work horse. This release was distilled after the 2000 expansion, hence it's a "newer style of Teaninich" - whether or not that impacts the flavour, regardless, the house style is difficult to generalise.
