Created as a mild departure from their regular cask strength releases, this vintage-specific bottling has a much higher sherry input supplied from ex-sherry hogsheads and refill casks. Sitting higher in their ABV averages, the 1991 23 year old was limited to 5000 bottles and destined for the German market, being described as a bolder, more intense style of Laphroaig. Many reviewers have praised the added complexity, stating that there is a prominent savoury/sweet balance followed by the classic, medicinal peat smoke.
