The Last Drop was founded by three industry veterans who set out to track down extraordinary old stocks in forgotten cellars in order to bring whiskies of both great age and exceptional quality to the market. What can only be described as an obsession, they've committed a significant amount of time and energy scouring Scotland for buried treasure.

Reportedly made from around 70 different malt and 12 different grain whiskies, many of which are from silent distilleries, the inaugural release from The Last Drop takes its namesake to the next level. With the youngest whisky in the blend being 48 years old, when bottled in 2008, this is a serious step into the past for any whisky enthusiast. Only 1347 bottles were produced, each with its own 50ml miniature for the ultimate drinker/collector experience. Very rare. 52% Alc./Vol.

Tasted prior to Australian release: Slightly dull, deep orange/sienna brown colour with a viscous appearance. The nose is profound - shellac top note, then surprisingly Bourbon-like with deep vanilla cream and brandy sauce aromas. The palate takes an unexpected turn from the nose, with a silky glycerous entry followed by an intense, slow explosion of dried apricots and prunes over old, slow-burning oak smoke. Fantastic balance. Pronounced warming spirit glow followed by a long, soft aftertaste of smoky oak, nougat & cloves. This is all about incredible depth that only whiskies of this venerable age seem to attain.
