Decanted from an octave cask (typically around 45-50 liters), just 66 bottles of this island gem made it to market. At first sniff, a spritely, salty quality overlays the barley, a bit like green olive brine, then, almost like a dry Madeira on the palate, though with more intensity from the uncut sprit. Finally, a lovely fruity quality enters. Water is required to accent those tropical notes, bringing juicy dried mango and light beeswax, mellowing the palate without diminishing the length. Typical of extra-aged bottlings from this distillery, the style here is rather feminine, quietly complex and seemingly unique to Jura. Cask #900869 tasted. 48% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Notes from the bottlers... Nose: Mellow and sophisticated, with aromas of warm lemon pastry, sea air, sweet orange, and crème brûlée. Palate: Light and buttery at first, evolving into rich layers of caramelised brown sugar, custard, followed by a familiar oiliness. Finish: Gently spiced with clove and cinnamon, balanced by honeyed sweetness and a light peppery lift.
