Recently arrived is the latest incarnation of Macallan's prestigious 18 year old 100% sherried release. This is a slight departure on the 'Double Cask 18 Year Old', (matured in both European and American sherry seasons oak casks), with the 'Sherry Oak Cask' seeing Macallan filled exclusively into Oloroso seasoned oak from Jerez, Spain. Besides sporting a much deeper colour, the resulting whisky is characterised by mature oak, ginger and raisin flavours that are in some ways like extra-aged Armagnac. 43% Alc./Vol.
