The Glenturret 2024 Release Triple Wood Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Readers may recall Glenturret's 2022 Triple Wood which was rated 99 points and judged the world's top single malt Scotch whisky at the 2023 International Wines and Spirits Competition. We're now onto the 2024 release. It sees the same trio of cask types employed, building on the distinctive fruity flavours of the distillery's new make. 44% Alc./Vol.

Other reviews... Glenturret’s flagship, named for its aging in three different casks: American oak, European oak (both sherry seasoned), and bourbon. Spearmint, earthiness, and warehouse floor start this off on the nose. The palate is smoothly textured, with flavors of baked apricot, pepper spice, vanilla, and wine-soaked oak. The finish offers baked peach and apricot, chocolate, banana, and vanilla cream. Deep, richly flavored, and in great balance. 92 points - whiskyadvocate.com

...surpassed my expectations, which is good. Maybe it also says something about my thoughts on Glenturret, a distillery I like but generally don't hold in the highest regard.
