Puss & Mew Distillery Distichon Port Barrel Release Australian Single Malt Whisky (500ml)

Named after Hordeum distichon (the scientific name for 2-row barley), this whisky spent time in first-fill casks from Portugal. Port pick-up is well-defined on the nose, sweet yet savoury, yielding mixed ripe berries over a deep vanilla backdrop. Slightly tense on entry, relaxing into a superb, port-soaked plum pudding delivery with hints of cinnamon and pepper. An undercurrent of dark chocolate carries the residual fortified fruitiness, coating the mouth. Fine tannins and oak spices bring structure to the whole. Excellent new Australian whisky. 44% Alc./Vol.
