Pintail Girvan 17 Year Old Cask Strength Single Grain Scotch Whisky (700ml)
For whisky lovers who think they've tried it all, here we have a middle-aged grain with a twist: Aged for around 16 years, nearing its peak, it then spent a full year in an ex-Fine Bretagne barrel, bestowing lots of juicy apple and a creamy texture. 'Fine Bretagne' (also known as ‘Lambig’) is an apple brandy made from distilled cider in the Brittany region, similar to Calvados (produced in neighbouring Normandy). The outturn was 256 bottles at a natural strength of 53.7% Alc./Vol.
Notes from the bottlers... Nose: Creamy and delicate with hints of vanilla custard, apple juice, pear drops, Galia melon, shortbread, marzipan. Palate: Warm apple tarte tatin, lemon sherbet, jasmine blossom. Finish: A warming note of white pepper with lasting almond oil and sweet apple butter pastries.
