Penderyn Serpent's Tears Single Malt Welsh Whisky (700ml)

Released in July 2025, this is said to mark an historic milestone as the first peated single malt produced in North Wales in over a century. Using their copper Faraday single-pot still, Penderyn Llandudno Lloyd Street distillery has crafted a lightly peated whisky, primarily matured in x-Bourbon casks, followed by a custom finishing. Presented as a tribute to the adventurous spirit of past explorers and the natural beauty of Wales, the name refers to the local myth where invading Vikings mistook the misty, winding silhouette of the Great Orme for a monstrous sea serpent and turned their longships away. 46% Alc./Vol. Non-chill filtered.

Notes from the producers... Nose: An autumnal day in a glass. Dry leaves, orchard fruits, wood smoke – dry logs on the crackling open fire. Some creamy notes in the background and heavy toasted bread. Palate: Sweet peat, soft vanilla cream, sugared pancake with burnt edges. Baking apples with the hint of malt and a touch of peppery spice and clove. Finish: Warming soft peat that lingers in the mouth with a barley sweetness.
