No. 8 from Mount Gay's Master Blender Collection, this also happens to be the youngest release in the series. Offering 4 years of maturation on ex-Cognac French oak, sourced from Cognac powerhouse Rémy Martin. This cask selection was chosen to be paired with a 100% column still Rum, allowing the lighter, floral character to mingle with the drying and delicate oak. The Cognac side of things appears to be an afterthought, as the barrels were delivered quite dry to the distillery, minimising any impact from the departed spirit. A reportedly bold move from Master Blender Trudiann Branker, this expression offers up cherry, vanilla, leather and caramel, a distinct contrast to the heavier members of the series. 6276 bottles released worldwide.
