Seventh release in the Master Blender Collection, the idea behind this one was to celebrate the recommissioning of Mount Gay's almost 100 year old Coffey still. Not bearing any further maturation or finishing, 4 years in ex-bourbon made sure the characteristics of the production shine through. A key characteristic of their Coffey still is that the initial spirit comes out at around 82-87% ABV, as opposed to the regulation 95%. This ensures a rich, more flavourful rum. It was also a single batch, which goes a long way to retaining character and complexity. Non chill filtered and no added colour. One bottle only from a private collection. 58% Alc./Vol.
