Madre Blanco Tequila (700ml)

Some may consider this more mezcal-like than mainstream tequila, but we love these robust, high ABV expressions that are a truer reflection of the spirit's rustic origins. The upfront, salty-agave lift to the nose sets a benchmark. Air contact drops the intensity a notch but ups the complexity releasing whiffs of green capsicum, pencil shavings, grilled pineapple, white pepper and green olive brine. Equally expressive in the mouth in its bold, zesty attack, viscous feel and vivid vegetal character that evokes salted lime, butter pickles and pepper followed by traces of sulphur, sauerkraut and spent candles. Too many Tequilas nowadays are comparatively meek, simple and much-of-a-muchness. Madre's breaks the mould. 48% Alc./Vol.
