Lagg Kilmory Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

'Kilmory' is the flagship single malt and the first core range expression from Lagg. Named after the village near the distillery, it's made with Concerto barley and water from their own borehole. The peat is sourced in North East Scotland. In terms of flavour, the combination of peat and and ageing in ex-bourbon barrels forms the backbone, with heather smoke, charred citrus and a creamy sweetness from the American oak coming through. 46% Alc./Vol. Non-chill filtered.

Other reviews... Peat smoke and charred pine aromas rise from the glass with crackling-ember intensity. The smoke is the star on the nose but it’s perfumed with charred pineapple and ripe lemons. After acclimating to the smoke, a medicinal character emerges with a hint of antiseptic, rubber, and Band-Aids vying with cedar smoke and citrus. The palate is long and sweetens with time, as vanilla and Creamsicle meet the considerable peaty punch. 93 points - whiskyadvocate.com

...Considering how young this malt must be , there is no escaping its excellence... The fact that it melts in the mouth with not even a hint of newmakeyness to its persona is truly remarkable. The finish may be a little incomplete and untidy, but for the age that is hardly surprising. The beauty of the nose and delivery more than compensates.
