Other reviews... The wee house Pasquet is located in Eraville near Segonzac, the capital city of Grande Champagne. It is, of course, own-estate Cognac, here a mid-life vatting of several vintages ranging from 1991 to 2000, all matured separately until the year 2008, then blended together, then bottled nine years later. Colour: gold. Nose: we’re much more on flowers this time, dandelions, orange blossom, honeysuckle, buttercups… There are wee notes of orange juice as well, a touch of chocolate fudge, and hints of roasted cashews. Whiffs of sandalwood as well. Very elegant, especially after the rather boisterous - yet excellent - François Voyer. Mouth: it’s tenser, tarter, more citrusy than the others. Lovely notes of blood oranges, pink grapefruits, tangerines, even bergamot (really reminds me of those marvellous Bergamottes de Nancy – those are sweets that you should try). A very faint salty touch in the background, as well as a little miso or even umami. That’s pure fun! Finish: longer than the others, a tad more restrained and grassy, perhaps a little less ‘commercial’, whatever that means. Excellent. Comments: a serious style, extremely good. I think we’ll try an older one in a few seconds… 45.6% Alc./Vol.

... The Pasquet Nostalgie is both a limited-edition Cognac and a delightful trip down memory lane, transporting each connaisseur back to the last decade of the 20th century. Jean’s father, Jean-Luc Pasquet, was feeling nostalgic in his 21st century reality, so decided to blend the best Cognacs from each year during the 1991-2000 period. Pasquet Nostalgie Limited Edition Cognac is also the last of the blends created by Jean Luc. These vintages were left to mature before finally being assembled in 2008 to become a unique blend in the Extra Cognac age category....

This limited run of only 500 bottles has produced a beautifully aromatic Cognac, with a top note of cocoa hovering above powerful, heavier scents of dried apricots, dried figs, prunes, creme-caramel and new leather– an ultimately sensuous, complex experience on the nose. On the palate, a supple entry slowly unfolds to reveal concentrated flavors of ripe stone fruits, dried figs and almond cake followed by tastes of spicy vanilla and cocoa. It feels exceptionally pure on the palate, with a very gentle, warming spirit and impeccable balance. The aftertaste lingers with terrific persistence, drying with flavors of dried banana, creme caramel and cedary oak. The Pasquet Nostalgie is packaged in a traditional slim bottle, with a simple and chic label balancing nicely with the brandy’s gold, iridescent color. This beautiful blend is best savored neat, and we recommend letting it breathe in the glass for between 10-20 minutes for maximum pleasure. With lots of poise and powerful nostalgia a-plenty, Pasquet Nostalgie Limited Edition Cognac is the perfect Cognac to share among a tight-knit group of friends as you reminisce about years’ past.
